About the Organization:

The IUCN is not just another environmental body. It is the architect behind global conservation frameworks, influencing agreements like protected area standards, biodiversity targets, and ecosystem restoration strategies.

They operate at the intersection of science, policy, and international diplomacy, advising governments, NGOs, and multilateral institutions.

About the Role:

This role sits inside the biodiversity policy engine room.

You will support global policy processes tied to biodiversity conservation, helping translate science into international policy action.

If ESG is your lane, this is upstream influence at a global governance level.

What You’ll Do:

Policy & Research Support

  • Assist in biodiversity policy development and analysis
  • Track global policy frameworks and conservation agreements
  • Support technical documentation and briefing materials

Programme Coordination

  • Contribute to biodiversity-related initiatives and projects
  • Support coordination across internal teams and external partners
  • Assist in organizing policy dialogues and meetings

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with governments, NGOs, and international institutions
  • Support communication between policy actors
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing platforms

Communication & Reporting

  • Draft reports, summaries, and policy briefs
  • Translate technical findings into usable policy insights
  • Support strategic publications and outputs

Who They’re Looking For:

  • Background in environmental science, policy, or related field
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent writing and communication ability
  • Interest in biodiversity governance and conservation systems
  • Early-career profile, typically 1–2 years experience

Why This Role Matters:

Let’s be blunt.

Everyone talks about biodiversity loss.
Very few sit where decisions about biodiversity actually get shaped.

This role places you inside the system that defines:

  • What gets protected
  • How conservation is funded
  • Which policies governments adopt

You are not reacting to environmental change.
You are helping design the response architecture.
